We recognize the unique challenges faced by Black and Brown mothers when it comes to postpartum care. The disparities in maternal mortality and morbidity rates, as well as the higher prevalence of postpartum depression, demand immediate attention and action. Our Postpartum Initiative aims to provide culturally affirming, accessible, and personalized care to address these critical issues.
We are committed to empowering new mothers with the resources, support, and education they need to thrive during their postpartum journey. Through the integration of an innovative Ai-powered doula app, we aim to bridge the gap in postpartum care by offering real-time emotional support, mental health resources, and connection to certified doulas—all at the touch of a button.
Mission:
To provide accessible, culturally affirming, and comprehensive postpartum care for Black and Brown mothers in Oregon through innovative solutions, including an AI-powered doula app. Our goal is to reduce maternal health disparities, improve mental health outcomes, and ensure equitable access to vital postpartum resources.
By participating in our 7 - 10 min survey, you’ll help us better understand the needs and challenges of new mothers, enabling us to provide more accessible, culturally affirming, and supportive resources.

Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of postpartum care—thank you for being part of this important initiative.
The statistics are clear: Black and Brown mothers face higher rates of maternal mortality, morbidity, and postpartum depression compared to their White counterparts. In Oregon, the maternal mortality rate for Black women is 2.6 times higher than for White women, and the lack of access to culturally competent postpartum care exacerbates these disparities.
This initiative was born out of the need to provide a safe, accessible, and inclusive space for new mothers to receive the support they need. By leveraging technology and collaborating with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and doulas, we aim to change the narrative around postpartum care for Black and Brown mothers in Oregon.
1. On-Demand Doula Support: Our AI-powered app will connect new mothers with certified, culturally competent doulas who provide personalized care, from breastfeeding assistance to emotional support. Our doulas are trained to offer guidance that respects cultural practices and values, ensuring every mother feels seen, heard, and supported.
2. Mental Health and Wellness Support: Postpartum depression (PPD) is a serious concern for many new mothers, especially within Black and Brown communities. Our app will include features that track emotional well-being, providing check-ins and personalized advice to help detect early signs of postpartum depression and anxiety. If needed, the app will connect users to mental health professionals, ensuring mothers have the care they deserve.
3. Culturally Tailored Resources: We understand that cultural practices and beliefs play a significant role in a mother’s experience. Our app will provide resources tailored to the unique needs of Black and Brown mothers, including educational content on postpartum health, baby care, and mental wellness that aligns with their cultural values and traditions.
4. Community Support: Postpartum care is not just about physical recovery; it’s about emotional healing and building a supportive community. Our app will include peer support networks, connecting mothers with others who share similar experiences, allowing them to exchange advice, share stories, and build lasting connections.
